The Stock Broker’s Rule

Working in the stock market and dealing in stock trades is an example of brokers delaying gratification for financial gains. Trade pundits and experienced brokers make a killing consistently when the economy is on a low swing. When markets dip, buyers look for the distressed stocks to pick. Among these stocks, some would earn them a fortune. They compute a stop loss figure, anticipating the prices to slide even further. However, there is research behind the madness, and experts know exactly when to sell as conditions improve.

Stockbrokers are immune to market swings and the anxieties it brings with the volatility. They can delay their gratification and wait for the right time to buy and dispose of stocks instead of investing elsewhere. Even when the markets are stuck with a recession, seasoned investors know things would get back to normal or even improve with time.

If we could adopt the mind-set of stockbrokers in our lives for matters that might seem stressful, we would be armored against any pessimism that leads to emotional discomfort.

The excerpt above is from my upcoming book – Shift Left, about to be published shortly and will be available to you on major e-commerce platforms.
