The world as I see it.

Humans have always seen the world as a sphere. I don’t intend to be a medieval world king who denounces this reality. But let us Shift Left on this one. The world is indeed round. Nevertheless, we have put ample time and thought juxtaposing this reality to growth and globalization. We have lingered on this fact significantly than shifting our attention to the other geometrical shape. The formation in which we actually live. The triangular pyramid out of the human collective.

The large mass of population that lives in poverty and denied basic rights and facility for survival. The continuing impoverished condition with no access to clean water, food is only alarming. True, the overall poverty segment has shrunk with families moving from poverty or low-income groups to the middle-class segment, but what for those who continue to be at the world’s mercy? The numbers and condition of the basic necessities to humans is utterly shocking. We will soon see burgers being cheaper than safe drinking water.

The case for the middle-class groups is also perilous. The rise of automation requires the need for large servers. These gigantic databases are only affordable to the world’s powerful and remain a fancy wish list for the middle-class segment to own. This will see the rise of the powerful and the shift of the middle class towards poverty. The march towards Singularity will be painful as we would come to experience people losing jobs, small businesses shutting down. Yet, we will read the exponential growth of those at the top of the pyramid in our daily tabloids.

I do not have a ready answer in this blog to articulate what must be done. I will be keen to read from you and interact on what could be the possible solutions. Anyone up to Shift Left on this one?
